Mr. Fix It

I am so thankful for my dear hubby. Because of Kyle's work schedule, we weren't able to have Family Home Evening on Monday, so we decided to do it yesterday instead. He had to come home early because of scouts, so we figured after scouts, we could take the kids out for ice cream. Well, he got home, just in time to run to the church building, James was waiting in the car, I took his lunch box and laptop, Kyle grabs the church key, gets in to the car, starts it, and it won't shift into drive. It's been doing that to me a lot lately, and had even done it that afternoon. Needless to say, Kyle was a little irritated. He comes back into the house to get his bike, and it has a flat tire. Not good. I know what you're thinking. The guy has 2 trucks, why didn't he just drive one of them? Well, the registration is expired on one, and the other is parked behind his work truck, so he would have to move his work truck, park it, and get his other one out. He settled for the expired one. They hop in to it, and drive off to scouts. After he gets home from scouts, he takes me out to the Expedition to show me the problem. A wire had come loose, and he wanted me to fix it. Me? Why me? I couldn't do it. I think he wanted me to do it because I'm so much shorter and can fit better under the steering wheel. But I couldn't do it. 45 minutes later, he did it! The kids were so happy. We all got in the car, and drove to Macey's for ice cream. We finally get there and there are like, 30 teenagers waiting in line! Argh!! And only 2 people serving ice cream! (Kyle has a theory that they hand out queludes at Maceys, because the people there are soooo slow). We looked at the kids, looked at each other, and decided to buy ice cream sandwiches and take them home. The kids weren't too excited, but I really didn't want to be there until 10pm. And even though we couldn't stay for ice cream there, I'm still glad we had this experience. Why? Because it made me appreciate my husband and his mechanical skills even more. He told me that to take it somewhere would have cost us about $120 - $150 dollars. He was able to do it for free, because, as James says, "He can fix almost anything." I'm so grateful to have a husband that can fix things. He's so awesome.

Sometimes technology is very irritating!

My camera sucks! I know that's not a nice word, and lot's of people don't use it, but that's the only way to describe my camera right now. It wasn't always like this. It used to be this cute, fun, cooperative working camera. Now, not so much! I took some fun pictures of when we cut down our Christmas tree, and I couldn't find them. Then, after a family friend worked on our computer, I plugged my camera in so I could download more pictures, and wouldn't' you know it. I found the pictures from getting the tree, but not any of my other pictures. ARGH!!! I was going to get a camera for Christmas, but Kyle bought me furniture for our front room instead. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have the furniture. But I look forward to getting a new camera at some point this year. Oh well. Here are the pictures from our Christmas Tree Adventure.

December 28 was our 12th anniversary. I can't believe it's been 12 years! It really seems like just yesterday, this skinny boy walked in to our dorm room, and we all went dancing. Many of you don't know, but Kyle and I met through my roommate, Teri. They went to High School together. Kyle didn't know it at the time, but the reason she called him up and invited him over was because he had a truck and we all wanted to go out, but none of us had a car. Well, about a month later, Kyle and I started dating. If you want the really long version, call me and I'll tell you. Anyway, we started dating in October, got engaged in November, and were married in December. Nothing went the way we planned, but I'm very grateful for what happened. These past 12 years haven't always been easy, but so far, they've definitely been worth it. Okay, enough mushy stuff. For our anniversary, I told Kyle I wanted to go to the Anniversary Inn. Things were busy at work, so he convinced me to wait until January. I told him "That's fine, but I'm not waiting until January 30th. We're going as soon as we can." This weekend was the only weekend in January that both Kyle and my dad weren't on-call for work, so my parents can watch the kids, and we can go have fun! I am so excited! We're staying at the Kahn Mansion on South Temple, and we're staying in the Jungle Safari room. We haven't stayed here in 5 years, so I'm really excited.
