I am so excited! I started my own website! It's a place where I can keep a journal of my gym experiences (good and bad), and people can email me comments or recipes. I'm hoping to use this as a place where I can discuss my journey to better health. Check it out at: www.exercisenewbie.weebly.com. Let me know what you think. It's still in development, so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!

Day 2 of this terrible, painful, wonderful weight loss journey
So today is day 2. This morning, I woke up, and felt great in bed. For about.....5 seconds! I felt it in my thighs the most. Not my arms or stomach or even calves. Nope, my thighs. These wonderfully large and warm pieces of flesh sometimes disguised as a pork picnic roast (I really need to work on my tan), were sore, as I discovered that there were actually muscles under the layers of fat and cellulite. Yes, people, actual muscles. Not only are they there, but they are there and they are not really happy at being disturbed. For years they have lain dormant like an old volcano, only coming alive a couple of times a year, after working in the garden. Oh, they are awake now, and they are ticked!! You see, these particular thighs like to hibernate for most of the year, and they knew that it was toooo early for tilling the garden. So, naturally, in a wonderfully vocal way, they are letting me know of their irritation at being woken up so early.
In retaliation for the early waking, they are making every step painful. Well, almost every step. You see, if there is no incline, they are pretty okay. But give them a step, a small hill, or even an Expedition to climb into, and they are awake and screaming like a newborn baby wanting a feeding and a diaper change. Not a pretty picture, I know. When I walk around the house, they're okay. But try and sit down at the table, and OMGOSH!!! I almost want to cry!! And all of this before I even left to take the kids to school!!! How was I going to make it through the day??!!
After receiving a text from my trainer that she wouldn't be able to make it this morning and can we reschedule for tomorrow, I was jubilant! Yes, tomorrow would be great!! But, I still needed to do something, right? But what can I do that isn't going to make me want to rip heads off of puppies, and scream at perfect strangers "What are you looking at? You've never seen cellulite before?" The answer was simple. Water aerobics. The class descriptions says, and I quote: "Aqua Aerobics. Take the impact out of your workout using water resistance for a great fat burning, muscle-toning cardio to get your metabolism fired up for the rest of the day." I can do that, I thought to myself. This should be easy! I showed up to the gym a little early so that I could sit in the jacuzzi for a few minutes and get my muscles warmed up. Note to self: don't sit in hot water, when you're planning on getting in cold water a few minutes later.
So there I was, standing in the pool, waiting for people to show up. Finally, a few minutes later, the instructor showed up, and so did some other women (thankfully there are only women in this class). The instructor seemed really nice and friendly, then the evil set in. "Okay ladies, 5 more, 6 more, 7 more, 8 more, 200 more!!!" At one point, I looked at her and asked, "Are you sure you're not just trying to kill us?" and she laughed!! Actually laughed!!! Okay, long story short, I finished the workout, didn't pass out, didn't hurt any of the skinny minnies on my way out, and survived another day at the gym. But will I make it through tomorrow? That is the real question.
On a similar but separate note, today was the first day for the weight loss group that I joined. I am so excited! There are 8 of us and we're all different sizes. Some of us thinner than the rest, but that's okay. We are going to support each other through this wonderful, terrible, fun, exhausting journey called Weight Loss!
