Just when I thought things were starting to get better.........
I kept Haley and James home on Friday because neither of them felt very good, and they were both coughing. James was doing worse, though. Yesterday, Haley's cough seemed pretty much gone, but James's cough was still very much there. We spent the day hanging out at home, and cleaning up when we had the energy. In the afternoon, my parents came by for a visit, and James got my dad to agree to do a doughnut run to Krispy Kreme (smart boy). So dad bought 2 dozen doughnuts, and got 3 cups of doughnut holes basically for free. The kids were very happy about that. That night, after my parents had already left and the kids were done with dinner, they asked if they could have a doughnut. I figured, sure, have some sugar and crash right before bed. So a little while goes by, and we're telling the kids to get on jammies and brush their teeth. I realized I hadn't seen James. He had been up in our room, watching a movie on his laptop while relaxing on my bed. I asked Haley to tell James I wanted to see him, so I could "gently remind" him to get ready for bed. She comes downstairs, really calmly by herself, and doesn't say anything. I asked her, "Haley, where's James?" She looks at me and says, "He threw up." "In my bed?!" I ask. Yep. In my bed. Right in the middle!!! Well, closer to Kyle's side, but still, in the bed! None of our kids have puked in our bed since they were babies, and it was a little spit up. Not 11 year old puke! Oh, and did I mention we had hot dogs for dinner? Yeah, this was not fun. Thankfully, he only got it on the sheets and comforters. The pillows, laptop and speaker system were unharmed. So I threw everything off that wasn't covered in puke, gathered the blankets together and brought them downstairs to be washed. Then, I had to scrub my mattress. It was not pretty. After I scrubbed and scrubbed, I grabbed a can of Lysol and sprayed that sucker until it was soaked. Unfortunately, I sprayed it so much, we had to wait until almost 2am to go to bed, and even then we had to lay down towels to soak up the last of the moisture. While I was cleaning up the bed, and washing blankets, Kyle had the wonderful idea of having James sleep in the bathtub so if he puked again, he would be right by the toilet, and not on a mattress or carpet. I just looked at him. The bathtub? Are you serious? But James really wanted to do it. It must be a boy thing. I don't know. So Kyle put the boy's blankets in the tub with his pillow, and put his fan on a plastic tote of soldier toys, and James went right to sleep.
I woke this morning to 3 kids running around and playing, and I thought, okay, they must all be feeling better. After I came downstairs, Leilani told me that she and Haley had eaten some of the doughnut holes, and Haley had an upset tummy and Lani got a little sick from them. So now I'm wondering, is this from the doughnut's or from a virus? Either way, I'm not touching those doughnut holes, just in case. Oh, and when Kyle came down with them, and I saw he was eating them, I told him about Lani. He put them down and hasn't touched them again. I just hope everyone is feeling better by tomorrow because I can't take much more of this sickness. I'm just wondering when this will be over!

Should someone be calling DCFS about having you have your sweet son sleep in your tub? LOL!!! That is so funny. Smart. But very funny!
This is Ben. I was just tinkering on the wife's blog and got reading your story about James losing his lunch and sleeping in the tub. I just want you to know that I laughed out loud. Awesome!
Man...I think you totally win when it comes to terrible sick kids stories. I have had kids wet my bed before when they have creeped in during the night and I didn't wake up, but I think yours is way worse. Hope everyone is feeling better.
